Thanks! The technique is actually super easy - all you need is a wire whisk, a length of rope, and some very fine steel wool (grade 0-0000). You stretch the steel wool (you don't have to stretch it out, but it works a little better imho), then stuff it inside the whisk. Light the steel wool with a lighter or 9-volt battery, and have a friend start the camera shutter just after you start spinning. 30 seconds at f/9 with your ISO as low as it can go seems to be the standard camera settings for good results.
If you're going to try this I highly recommend a long sleeved hoodie, and a pair of work gloves - the hoodie for obvious reasons (because the sparks burn), and the gloves because spinning that rope as fast as you can will result in some vicious blisters.
